Make your first phone call
To make your first Octilla phone call, simply navigate to the Communicate screen and place the cursor on the Search or Dial bar. You can now search for a contact in your phone book OR enter number mode by entering + or 0.
Make a call using Global Reroute
Global Reroute is a calling service that lets you make a phone call using your Octilla account from any phone you have access to, office, home or a friends', without worrying about incurring any expensive charges.
Learn about roaming charges?
When roaming abroad it is usually cheaper to receive calls than to make them. So, Octilla works as a call back service. We redirect your outbound call as an inbound call to save you a lot of money. There is no service charge. You pay only a per-minute price for the connection. However, make sure you check your mobile carrier international roaming rates before using Octilla abroad.
Check your calling balance
When you install Octilla you automatically have a starting balance that allows you to make a few phone calls. To check your current calling balance go to My Octilla - Check Balance.
Add money to your account
To add money to your Octilla account navigate to My Octilla - Add Money.
Check your calling history
Octilla lets you review the last 30 Octilla calls you have made. Don't worry, your complete history is saved on our servers, and will become available to you very soon.

A complete list of calling rates is included in the application. To review the list navigate to Communicate. Open the Options and select Rates.
Customize your Octilla application
Octilla allows you to customize several application settings. To review your current settings or modify them, navigate to My Octilla - Application Preferences. Cange any settings you wish, and press Save when you are done.
Modify your Communication settings
Advanced communication settings are included the application, which you should familiarize yourself with to get the optimum usage out of Octilla. You can access all Communicate settings by navigating to Communicate and opening the Options. Then select Service Settings - Call Settings.\n\nOn most phones, Octilla will automatically know which country it is in, and use Call Back if your are roaming internationally, to save you money. If your phone does not automatically change its location flag on the Communicate scree, you have to change it manually.\n\nBy default, Octilla is set to automatically detect the optimal dialing mode, whether you are at home or traveling internationally. However, you can manually override this by selecting a specific dial mode. Just remember to change it back, otherwise the service will not work. Change these settings on the Dial Mode screen.\n\nLearn all about dialing modes in the FAQ in the Making a Call section.\n\nOctilla allows you to use a different SIM card, for example if you are traveling internationally, or perhaps you have a new phone provider.\n

As of today Octilla operates on most BlackBerry, Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson devices.
Will the Octilla application change the functionality of my phone in any way?
No. The Octilla application is installed in a closed environment and will not affect how your phone currently functions.
Is my phone more vulnerable to Internet viruses if I use Octilla?
No, your phone will not get an Internet virus from using Octilla.
What are the terms and conditions for using Octilla?

How do I download Octilla?

In which folder should I install Octilla?
Normally the phone will decide in which folder Octilla is installed. Most often you will find Octilla in the Downloads, Games or Applications folders.
Octilla asked to read user data. Do I allow this?
Yes. To place calls for you, Octilla reads information from your phonebook.
Why does Octilla request permissions to access to the Internet?
Octilla requires access to the internet to install the application and support certain functions of the service.

What is Octilla?

How does Octilla work?
Octilla saves you money by directing your international calls to a local number and then routing the call from there. You pay your carrier for a local call and a small per-minute price to us for the international part.
What about roaming charges?

Yes, Octilla works with all wireless plans. However, you must have access to the Internet in order to download the application.

How do I place an international call from a mobile phone using Octilla?
Go to 'Communicate' in the application menu. From there you can dial the number of the contact you wish to call in international format OR choose a number from your handset phonebook. Please note, numbers chosen from your phonebook need to be in international format to allow successful calls using the Octilla dialer. Alternatively you can switch on the 'Manage all Calls' option which will automatically route all international/non-domestic dialed numbers through the Octilla dialer. Press Call to start the call. The phone may prompt you to send the destination number by then pressing Yes.
How do I place an international call from a landline phone using Octilla?
To make an Octilla call from a landline, use the Global Reroute feature on the Octilla mobile application. This allows you to call back to a landline instead of your mobile phone, before connecting you to your destination number.
Where do I go to see a list of the calls I make?
From the Octilla application on your phone, go to 'My Account / 'History' / 'Call History', here you will be able to view your 30 most recent calls. Alternatively, you can log into your account at www.octilla.com where you can view your full call history.
There are four different Dial Modes. Which one should I use?
You may choose the Dial Mode you want. In most cases, Auto Dial will be sufficient. Before traveling internationally, however, you may want to contact your service plan provider to ask about data charges. Each dial mode is described briefly on the Dial Mode screen, and in full detail on the website at http://www.octilla.com.
What is Data Dial?
When using Data Dial your phone sends a message to our servers along with the destination number. Then your phone calls our local access number and automatically connects you to the person you are calling. A data connection is required for this dial mode to function.
What is Tone Dial?
When using Tone Dial your phone calls the local access number and then sends the destination phone number as tones (DTMF).
What is Callback via SMS?
When using CallBack via SMS, the Octilla application uses your phone to send an SMS message to our servers. As soon as we receive the SMS message our service will call you back and connect you to the person you are calling.
What is Callback via Data?
When using CallBack via Data, the Octilla application uses your phone to send a Data message to our servers. As soon as we receive the Data message our service will call you back and connect you to the person you are calling. Your phone must have a Data subscription to support this dial mode.
What is my caller ID?
In most instances, when making a call using Octilla your contact will see your real number. However, it can happen that the caller ID is shown incorrect or not at all.
May I call premium rate numbers using Octilla?
NO. For your best interest, we actively block calls to premium rate numbers.
What is a registered number?
Registered numbers are the numbers that have been saved to your Octilla account. A phone number must be registered with us, before you can make calls using that number. You may register up to three numbers on your Octilla account.
Can I use Octilla outside of my home country?
YES, the Octilla service can be used to make calls in any country where you can send an SMS or connect via Data using your mobile device. Before making calls using the Octilla service when roaming, we strongly advise you check with your service provider for their most up to date roaming rates and ensure to set the appropriate Dial Mode on the Octilla application so you can obtain the cheapest rate.
How clear is the call quality when using Octilla?
Octilla uses high quality routes where available and continually strives to offer our customers the best quality to price ratio available. For calls using Octilla on your mobile phone, please ensure you have a good coverage signal to allow calls on your mobile. You may encounter interference with your mobile phone depending on your geographical location and surrounding landscape (underground car park, lift, electrical equipment) as such this will be out of our control. Can my mobile phone carrier block the Octilla service?
No, but they can deny access to certain information such as your mobile phonebook, in which case you must enter numbers on the Octilla dial screen manually.

How do I add funds to my account?
You can add funds to your Octilla account with a credit card from your mobile Phone or online from the Octilla.com website. To make a payment online go to www.octilla.com and log in to your account and follow the top up instructions. To top up from your mobile phone, select the Octilla application, got to 'My Octilla / 'Add Money' and follow the instructions.
Can Octilla store my credit card information for future use?
Yes. Octilla servers are closely monitored to prevent any unauthorized disclosure or use of your personal information. Octilla uses the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) industry standard, the highest level of security available today for web-secured applications.
How do I check my balance?
You can check your balance on the Octilla.com website by logging into 'My Octilla'. To access your balance from your phone, from the Octilla application go to 'My Octilla' / 'Check Balance'.
Where can I view the Octilla calling rates?
Octilla calling rates can be viewed in the rates section on www.octilla.com. Alternatively you can view calling rates from the Octilla application on your mobile phone. Go to 'Make A Call' / 'Options' / 'Rates' / 'Calling Rates'.
Does Octilla allow me to track my payment history?
Yes. Log into your Octilla account online at www.octilla.com and click on 'Payment History'. To access payment history from your mobile phone, open the Octilla application and go to 'My Octilla' / 'Payment History'.
Are my account funds guaranteed?
Yes. Any decrease in your balance is strictly a result of the calls you make.
Is my personal information safe with Octilla?
Yes. Your personal information can only be accessed using your personal four digit security code. We also have a strict no-spam policy and will never sell your email address or phone information. See our Privacy Policy on our website at www.octilla.com.
Is there a monthly service fee for using Octilla?
No, we do not charge a monthly service fee.
Does Octilla charge a connection fee?
No. Octilla does not charge their customers a connection fee. However we recommend that you check with the service provider of the telephone you are using if they implement any connection charges. Some payphone and mobile phone operators may apply a connection charge.
Are there any other charges associated to use of the Octilla service?
This will depend on the location, type of phone and dial mode used to make the call. For mobile phone users on a pay monthly plan with their mobile network provider and have minutes/data included as part of their plan, using the phone in your home country should not incur any extra charges when using data- or tone dial unless you have exceeded your monthly free minute allowance. For callback calls, you may incur charges for the set up of the call. Please also remember to check with your mobile provider if extra charges apply when roaming.
Do Octilla calling rates change?
Octilla reserves the right to change its rates from time to time. Your calls will be billed at the applicable rate that was in effect at the time the call was placed. Octilla strives to offer the best rates available to their customers and recommend you regularly visit the rates section at www.octilla.com to keep notified of the most up to date rates and promotions available.

Can I register other phones to use my Octilla account?
Yes. You can allow family or friends to register up to three different mobile phone numbers to use your Octilla account. Please refer to the Octilla.com website for information on how other phones can use your Octilla account.
Does Octilla use data to place calls?
Octilla offers a dial mode using Data. Using this mode to set up a call may incur Data charges on your mobile device, especially when roaming. Mobile subscribers who have unlimited data included in their monthly plan should not incur any extra charges using the Octilla Data dial mode to set up the call within their home country. Note: If the data dial mode is chosen on the Octilla application, all calls using the Octilla application will use Data to set up the call only and the call will then be billed in increments applicable to your standard mobile billing terms. Please refer to the Octilla.com website for further information on billing.

How do I add a contact to the application?
You can continue to save contacts to your phone as normal. However, please remember to save the number in international format (Country Code + Number). When you launch the Octilla application from your phone, your contacts list will refresh automatically.

What do I do if my application isn't working properly?
Go to www.octilla.com and log into myOctilla. Then go to the Registered Numbers page and request a new download to your phone. When you receive the download, simply download the application again and go through the short setup process.

When I access the Octilla application, my phone asks for permissions. How do I change this?
You need to locate the folder where your applications are held on your phone/device. From there you should find the Octilla application and can access the permission settings that will allow the Octilla application to access the internet and access of the user phonebook. If you are happy to allow the Octilla application to access the internet and phonebook of your phone/device, simply insure the Octilla application settings are always set to 'Yes, Always Allow' or 'Yes, Never Ask'. I forgot my Security Code. How do I retrieve it?
Access the Octilla application from your phone. Go to 'My Octilla'. A pop up window will open and contains a link 'I forgot my Code'. Please click on this link and an email containing your security code will be sent to your registered email address. If you do not receive this email please contact Octilla customer services.

How can I send the Octilla application to a third party?
On the Octilla application on your phone, select 'Share Octilla' on the main menu. Enter the telephone number in full international format of the person who you would like to send Octilla to OR simply select from your phonebook. You can also choose a contact from the 'make a Call' screen using the 'Share' option. Once you have chosen the 'Share' option you can also add a personal message before sending the message.
